Ruined the 'wipeout' zone

this new rule of just advance to the next obstacle when you wipeout in the wipeout zone is ridiculous. it ruins the whole thing. now the contestant can get through the *entire* course without even trying the obstacles. fall, swim, fall, swim, fall, swim, win. so stupid...

I agree. I just caught up on the season premiere on the DVR. I am disappointed. It takes the fun out of the show.
However, Jill is never a disappointment. LOL

reply

Couldn't agree more. Why even bother with the obstacles? Now, the strongest swimmer wins it. Still worth watching though to see Jill get all excited in the end.

reply

I completely agree..I am so annoying st this change. I liked watching the contestants wipe out in the zone and then go back and figure out how to make it through the obstacle. Now it feels dumbed down and anti -climatic.
I have watched the first two weeks but probably won't watch anymore this season.

Agree. The guy tonight fell at the beginning of every obstacle but was such a strong swimmer he completed the course in under 2 minutes. There's no strategy or skill (other than swimming) involved anymore.

They should change it back, or make it so you have to attempt each obstacle twice if they're trying to avoid 15 minute finish times.

I came here to say the same thing. The fun of the wipeout zone was watching them try and fail and then finally get it! There is no point to this. I have no incentive to watch the wipeout zone at all. Three rounds and I'm out. I hope this doesn't last past this season.

reply

Yeah, that's ridiculous. They're also apparently really surprised that people are "finishing" it in a minute or two.

"WHOA, WHAT AN AMAZING TIME!" "He didn't even complete any obstacles" "Still, an amazing time!"

reply

Yeah the best swimmer has an advantage. Not the best decision.

I just caught up with this show last week and couldn't believe how badly they screwed up the Wipeout Zone. Who's brilliant idea was that, anyway? Way to ruin a solid concept. There is absolutely no incentive for a contestant to finish any obstacle. Now finalists are going to cheat by pretending to wipe out.

reply

This is a great decision. Now the wipeout zone fits right into the rest of the show where when they WIPEOUT they just move to the next WIPEOUT. It's NOT a show about athleticism, per se... it's about wiping out.

Remember when the wipeout zone took upwards of 20 minutes to complete per contestant? There was so much editing on the longer wipeout zone runs just to fit it into the show. Personally it was very boring for me. I want to see WIPEOUTS, not who is the best athlete. If you want to see the REAL version of this show, tune into the various NINJA WARRIOR shows that are out there.

I know that the changes on this show are abrupt, emotional ones, but like the weather, just wait a while... it'll change.
