Does ANYONE like this show?

I have read most of the threads on this board and have not found one that is in favor of this show. The first time I saw a promo for this show I immediately thought "Mythbusters-rip-off!" And boy, was I right!
The hosts are boring and uninteresting to watch, the stunts are pathetic and I find myself channel surfing after about 10 minutes of this crap.
The only thing the show has got going for it is the chick and she sounds like a 5 year old when she talks.
I doubt there will be a season two. amirite?

There is no problem between us that can't be solved by your departure

I think the closest you will get to "liking" smash lab are people who say it is really bad but it is possible to fix it. Everyone else wants it pulled now.

There was a guy on the discovery channel blogs and forums that defended the show and called out its detractors, but it turns out that he was hoping for a job from one of the hosts.

that is the main reason why i wont watch it.when i see the commercial's all i see is Jr. Mythbusters.

reply

It's not even Jr. Mythbusters. The concepts on this show are so unrealistic, they don't even warrant testing. Airbags on a train? Please. That was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen. Porous concrete to stop a runaway vehicle? Aren't half of US highways that already? There is just no practical application for any of the things they "test" on the show. I've given up on that and now watch "Master Blasters" on the Science Channel (at the same time "Smash Lab" is on). I wonder which show has more viewers?

reply

You know, the more I see this show, the more I hate it.

I watch maybe about 5-10 minutes out of the whole hour episode and that's about all I can stand.
I'd bet anything this show won't be on next season. I hope.

reply

I don't hate as much as everyone here. It's not the best, but I watch it with my 5 year old son, and he loves it. He also loves any science show on the air "How it's Made", "Mythbusters", "Dirty Jobs", "Daily Planet" - actually just about every show on Discovery.

It's helping to build a solid interest of science in him, and I appreciate that.

reply

No offense to your son, but I feel like that show is geared for 5 year olds.
I love "How it's Made" too, I watch it several times a week.
I think any show that sparks an interest in science in young minds can't be all bad, so if this show has any redeeming qualities, it's that.

They literally have no life. Most of their tests are done just for the sake of testing and is probably used for adding time. A lot of their designs can be dismissed just by looking at them. And has anyone noticed that when they try to explain something they force out large complicated words that are not really needed?

reply

I like it well enough. The show has obviously done well enough with whatever the target demographic happens to be for them to make a few changes and give it another shot.

reply

Yeah, I'm amazed that it is on for a second season. I watched another episode the other night. Yep. Still lame.
