That's most likely a reference to America. The actions of the people living in America as well as the people governing the country. There could be a number of interpretations - in the attempt to "change" the world...this has had a negative effect on the society and even the country itself; we have begun realizing the error of our ways...that military intervention in another country can never have a positive conclusion, no matter how positive the intention originally.

it really grinds my gears when people say stuff like that; it so self righteous. most of those people on the cast list grew up from humble beginnings and/or have spent many years actively working for social justice issues. whether you like it or not, celebrity brings attention. and even though i have personally overcome many adversities and think i have a pretty interesting story not to many people would be interested unless it promoted by a celeb. get over yourselves and realize that they are just people too.
