A clever mix...subtle humor, drama, and general wackiness

I'm surprised to see such a low rating (5.8 at this writing) and mostly negative comments about this film. I think it deserves at least a 7.0 rating. I giggled my head off during a lot of it. I went in not expecting much, and I too almost gave up on it early in, but then it started getting really funny. I do understand French pretty well though, so maybe that made a difference.

My favorite joke was when Catherine Deneuve's character complains absently about the human condition, saying something like, "These objects around us will still be here long after we're gone." And the confused store clerk replies, "Not if we don't take care of them."

There are several subtle, very witty jokes like this in Park Benches, interspersed with some nutty physical humor and sight gags. There's also plenty of high and low drama, dotted with the same sort of wacky humor. It seems like an impossible mix, but in my opinion the writer/director/actors made it work most of the time.
