But this really is a second sequel to a B movie and they have managed to make boyka a fantastic villian to hero

For a 2nd pseudo sequel to a martial arts movie that went straight to video this is one of the best ever!
They were wise not to make him TOO evil in the 2nd movie. Tong Po from Kickboxer and Chong Li from Bloodsport and Chozen from KK2 are examples of martial arts movie villains who were beyond redemption.
If you are careful not to make a villain too evil you can reuse him as a hero!
It is a good thing those 2 guys he murdered ware sleazo A holes with no honor (the ones who drugged Chamber's drinking water) because normally murder would disqualify a character from redemption meaning we could not buy him as a hero but those 2 scum bags were people the world was better off without. Killing them was STILL wrong but those circumstances made it a forgivable sin. Had he killed 2 people who did not at all deserve it he would be like Tong Po or Chong Li, and unredeemable.
