Why now?

I don't understand... why are they releasing the TV movie when a high budget theater movie is being released? Did they think it would boost people watching the TV show?

If anything I believe this might subtract from the theater movie... because its so poorly made.

The way I figure it is that the advertisements/trailers for the theatrical film are just starting to hit TV, so with it fresh in peoples minds, now the DVD for the made for television film of the same name and released the same year will be mistooken in stores for the upcoming release. I had to do a double take before I realised it was an atempt to cash in by someone else. I picked it up anyways just to see how it is because I really liked the original film based on the book. Have not watched this one yet though. I also want to get the original and the 1999 remake which are also both at wal-mart for $10 each. This one was $15, but it sounds like I paid too much after reading the reviews ;)

Dam it, I must pay more attention when in the video store, if I had of downloaded it I never would have wasted $6.

Is there a law that this movie has to be remade every three or four years? It is on satellite right now and it is the Treat William's version, but the movie info
in the guide is for this one with Ricky. And the comments here make it sound like there is even another release. Even the schedulers can't keep track of them.

there's probably gonna be a short short version called "The Real Journey to the Centre of the Earth", where they drill down and send in an unmanned probe to explore the region beneath the crust but the mission is a failure because the intense heat melts their 40 million dollar probe and they say:"Naah, sod that! Let's go back to the Moon!" or something.
