How could Mussolini's wife have a child younger than his 2nd wife's kid

So many questions. This film reminded me of Claudine, the sculptress who was Rodin's mistress and went mad.
But what did the son actually die of? Was he actually kept in solitary by those nuns after he was taken away from his mom? The Catholic church has been complicit in so much evil, it should just go up in flames.

Somehow blatant evil, as portrayed by Mussolini, is not so bad to me as is the evil masquerading and hiding behind a facade of good. the Catholic church in WWII and even today speciializes in secret evil. And who dares criticize it?
Having just seen "Nine", a musical based on Italian films of the 60s, the satirization of the Catholic church by the priest swapping access to the bishop/pope with a promised 'autographed picture of the blond movie star' indicates how superficial the Catholic church is.

This movie demands another movie to let us know
1) what did the son die of in that insane asylum? the horrible neglect asylums were known for?
2) Was the so-called keeper for Mussolini's son ever punished?
3) If the people of that town were really that concerned for the spurned wife, why wasn't anything done? Or was fascism just too overwhelming, having the OK of the Catholic church?

Mussolini first had a daughter with Rachele Guidi in 1910, Edda, who was 5 in 1915, when Dalser's son was born.
In 1915, Mussolini and Guidi got married.

Spoilers

1) He was imprisoned in the asylum, tortured and died of marasmus (but this part isn't clear at all in the film).
2) I doubt it.
3) I guess fascism was too overwhelming. Dalser tried to fight it and look what happened to her.

good to know. So, the 'official ' wife was actually his mistress AFTER he married Dalser, or was that occurring before? She mentions that he met the non-wife in a restaurant, where she worked. True?

I was fascinated by her naive assumption /hubris that someone would believe her and help her, against all odds. Sounds like me fighting segregation in 1955, in Birmingham. Useless!!!??? and then?

Mussolini and Dalser first met in 1909 (as the film shows) but Guidi had been Mussolini's mistress since 1910, when she had a daughter (I don't know where the two met). Then Dalser and Mussolini apparently got married in 1914, when she was pregnant, and one year later her son was born. Finally, in late 1915 Mussolini officially married Guidi and the information about the first marriage was suppressed. So as you can see he was having an affair with two women at the same time.
