um...donc...

So was I the only one who was convinced the 2nd half of the movie was all just his wishful thinking? After the police get him to promise to leave her alone. That's when it all gets fake. I thought to myself, "it HAS to be.." and as it got more and more ridiculous as it went on (like the other dentist finding him hawt? And even the fact that, conveniently, now Georges is telling Marguerite to leave him alone....opposite of real life, gives him upper hand in his fantasy...etc...and the wife is clearly more dowdy/dressed down in the 2nd half, 100% complaint with everything...).

But. Th-there was no pay off at the end to prove this was all in his head. I thought perhaps they'd have a shot of him shooting himself or even having murdered her or something, haha. And the plane (sorta? maybe?) crashing was a sign of that. Like even in his fantasy, his stupid women-issues prevailed (thinking she was laughing at his zipper)... Or even just him dreaming.

Or he wrote his own ending. I just can't believe the second half was real. Margeurite's actions are all realistic until she decides to call the house (after the police). I was like "WTF" and then reassured myself it was fake and again, like I said, it got more and more implausible as it went on. And... We see him creating his own stories and dialogues of how things go in the first half of the movie, where the 'thought bubbles' so to speak are more obvious. So I tend to think that just took over for the rest of the movie.

Yet...didn't give us that closure.... I was almost bored in the 2nd half just waiting for that 'reveal'...but it never came. Yes yes I know, Hollywood, blah

I could be wrong. And the cat thing...I don't know. Perhaps that was a very obscure nod to reality not being, well, real. All in all, it left me hanging and I don't think in a good way. Too bad, because for the first half (up until that turning point I mentioned) I was completely engrossed.

[I did miss the first five minutes. Maybe the reveal I was looking for opened the movie and I just missed it? Please? I wanted to like this]
