WTF...have we run out of ideas?

The synopsis sounds like "A cirle of friends" exactly the same premise. Did people forget how to write fresh ideas.

WTF do you mean?
There hardly is a synopsis yet...

Set on the Jersey shore, the lives of three childhood friends begin to unravel when a secret from their past is revealed.

This movie might turn out to be a total piece of crap, be we don't know if that's so at the moment.
I hope this movie rules, James Gandolfini is in it.

Movies, TV, music has ALL been recycling ideas for years and years and years and years.

Try to think of an idea. Do it. Then look it up to see if someone had it before you. I guarantee that they have.

It's just the way of the world.

Talie is right, every idea has been done before no matter the idea. I believe Aristotle or someone like him broke EVERY story down to 8 (or so) basic stories. The love story, the revenge story, etc etc. Then, each and every story is a combo of those 8. What makes a story good or unique isn't so much the plot laid out in synopsis form but how that plot rolls out, the twists turns, nuances, funny parts, sad scenes, etc. So, I agree, just from a brief synopsis of any movie, it's too early to tell if it's a total ripoff of any other movie. And, this did sound to me like Mystic River, but I'm sure Mystic River is reminiscent of something before it and so on. Here's an example, keeping with the Kevin Bacon theme: Stir of Echoes and Sixth Sense came out at the same time, no one can say one ripped off the other, BUT if Echoes had come out say 2 years later, EVERYone would have said it was a ripoff. IF something sounds familiar, it will remind me of another story/movie. But, it is when you've watched the final product that you can then tell it was a total ripoff. I do NOT really like all of the remakes coming out, that DOES seem we've run out anything remotely creative ideas. And then there are movies, like Joyride (a Hitcher redo), which are exact copies and therefore ripoffs of a previous movie, just with a slight name change. Maybe this one will be, maybe it won't. Hopefully, there's some creativity to it...
