The painting that the movie fades to at the end - question

spoiler?

So at the end of the film, when it shows the idealized scene of the king and hong lim riding for the hunt, the movie ends with a fade of the scene to an ancient painting - I know this film is based on a somewhat true story, so I was wondering if the painting is real, or fictitious.

great film!
thanks!

The painting is real:

From what I've gathered, King Gongmin, whose life the story is loosely based on, painted that "Hunt in the Mountains of Heaven" painting.

'If you sleep through life, you wake up dead.'

It looks like it was based on that painting. It's hard to see the painting's details because of how old it is.

That type of painting is typical of the era and the film is not based on any true story whatsoever. It's pure fiction.
