White people will mostly rate this movie low

while black people will rate it way higher. It appeals mostly to blacks, because its made by the waynes bros and they write alot of material that relates to black people. Thats just how white comedians dont appeal as much as they do to blacks such as, jerry sienfield, dane cook, etc. And the same with comedians such as dray, ricky smiley,dl hughley. It works like this basically because comedy lots of the time relies on material that people can relate to and say hes right that does happen or w.e.
also when other people are laughing at a movie it makes it more enjoyable (for me atleast) and blacks are more likely to express themselves in a theather.

Are you saying it's unlikely white people will lol in the theater during a comedy?

reply

For the majority yes. Im sure they will snicker or chuckle a little.

The OP is somewhat right though. It is more likely that black people, in general, will watch this film more than Caucasians do. So, in conclusion, there will be more rates coming from the black demographic regardless of the median of rates that comes from the white demographic. And it has completely nothing to do with racial corroboration, which in this case is economically targeted to the black demographic. It is not about "Black people relates more to this film." No, it is not. White people dance too, you know. It's just that the movie, being dance-related, somehow is "favorable" to the majority of African-Americans. Ya heard? Iight. On love.

Funny is funny regardless if it's "black comedy" or "white comedy". The Wayan's Brother's have run out of good ideas and so, this movie is simply not funny. I'm sure it was hilarious to the Wayan's clan. They seem to be their own biggest fans. But, these parody films got really lame around Scary Movie 2.

reply

I gave this movie a WHOPPING half a star out of ten....And I'm black!

reply

I'm white and I loved the movie! When I go see a funny movie I will laugh like I am at home. It's a funny movie so I am supposed to laugh. If other people don't find it funny then it's not my problem.

I'm half white half hispanic and think movies like this are just one big insult to humanity. Instead of soldiers losing their lives the government should just send the wayans brothers to Iraq to be shot for target practice.

And seriously if this is what blacks call "good humor" they need much higher standards. I'm starting to think the Wayans brothers are the african american answer to the Marx brothers.

"After all, TOMORROW is ANOTHER DAY"

reply

So what in your definition is "good humor", I think if it makes millions laugh they did their job. They waynes bros are great at what they do making their people laugh. dont be a menace, scary movies 1 and 2, white chicks, Im gonna get you sucka are all gems in the african american community

reply

[deleted]

The first two scary movies and Im gonna get you sucka are both great, White Chicks and Dance Flick were both horrible.... Little man looked terrible too but I never saw it.

reply

The facts are there so please stop stating your sole opinion as fact about which 2 of the 4 scary movies are the best? I mean its ok for you to have and state your opinions but its not ok to state your opinions as facts.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't meant as a fact. Most people do state their opinions by just saying "___ was a great movie". I don't know how you're gonna stay sain if things like someone stating their opinion the wrong way bug you this much...

We all deserve to die, even you Mrs. Lovett even I!

The entire point of this thread isn't financial success, which incidentally has never had anything to do with how good a movie is. It's purely an opinion question on how different races felt about it. As a white person I'm part of a group in question and I did think it was terrible. I listed those movies as ones I liked to point out that I don't hate all Waynes brothers comedy but I did hate this one simply because it's a bad movie, not that the humor escapes me.

You seriously need to cool down though regardless.

I did my thesis on the Marx Bros. and they were GREAT! They pioneered so much funny sh!t, that if you've seen it before, you're seeing the imitators.

reply

Wait, now the Marx Brothers aren't respected as "high standard" comedy?? When did that happen?

So you're putting the Wayans guys in the same ballpark with the Marx Bros.? Because, that's high praise indeed! I don't know the Wayans family's stuff as well as I do the Marx Bros. (not that I'm an expert, or have seen everything, by any means; I just love them), but I've found much of what I have seen very fun, sometimes really hilarious. Haven't seen this movie though. I kind of want to, as a lifelong dancer, and someone who can't bear all the painfully bad, trying-to-be-serious, dance movies.

Multiplex: 100+ shows a day, NONE worth watching. John Sayles' latest: NO distribution. SAD.

Just raise your face up to the sky: "Hasa Diga Ebowai!"

reply

Me to,they dont make funny movies that are actually funny these days, this was funny.

reply

The Wayans brothers and these damn movies make me want to be racist. Seriously, black people are smarter than this.

And as for white people not "relating to the jokes", all the white people who are going to see this movie probably wish they were black anyway and will have a very Chappelle Show-like response to this movie. Meaning that because they liked it and "got the jokes" they will think that it's OK to run around quoting the many racially charged jokes this movie most likely has to offer.

First off, I know this is just a message board but would it kill you to put a f-cking period in your damn sentences!!

OK, now to the argument at hand.

I'm hispanic so I couldn't care less about the white jokes to black jokes ratio. The problem with these movies is that the way they "make fun" of people and tell their jokes is extremely lazy. Scary Movie spoofed other horror movies, this current crop of Movie movies just references things we've seen in trailers and throws as many pop culture references as it can into 90 minutes. And No I did not see the movie. After Wolverine, I don't need to see another sh!tty movie and judging from the trailer there is no possible way that I am missing out on anything.

As for being a bitter old man, I'm 20 years old and like I said in a previous post I love to laugh as much as the next guy.

-Arrested Development
-The Office
-30 Rock
-Flight of the Conchords

^
These are some of the funniest tv shows of all time and AD is THE funniest tv show of all-time. If you want to know what true smart comedy is, I recommend watching Arrested'. Now I know these are all tv shows but I'm just trying to show you that I'm not a bitter old white man with no sense of humor, I just hate how Hollywood jack off like the Wayans repeatedly churn out this bullsh!t that some people view as brilliant.

And as for getting upset at the sight of black people in a trailer??? What the hell kind of a thing is that to say? If a movie, tv show, comedian, actor, is funny I don't give a damn what race they are. Coming to America is one of my favorite comedies and is easily 10x funnier than this Dance Flick bullsh!t. Let me see, what other "black" people/movies don't "upset" me.

-Dave Chappelle (show or not, still extremely funny)
-Fresh Prince
-Kevin Hart
-Life
-Nutty Professor (1)
-Chris Tucker (comedy career, some OK movies)
-Tracy Morgan

should I really keep going? I hate the fact that you're so ignorant that I feel that I have to defend myself by citing black people and tv shows that I enjoy.

You're either funny or not it has nothing to do with race. I mean I guess if you have never met someone who isn't the same color as you you would think they were totally opposite. What people forget is that we are all humans, so we share the same traits (maybe some slight variations). Personally I find comedians that can transcend being locked into a style funny. Kat Williams is a riot, but so is Louis C.K., these guys are not like say Dane Cook who is locked into this persona onstage. In fact Dance flick is going to be the same as the other wayans movies when they started to suck. Its going to be lame, little kid obscene jokes that a little kid would laugh at. To a grown up this sh*t is whack and you wonder who they are targeting with this junk? Their kids or something? Like look what the *beep* I can do kids! Its insane this stuff even gets green lighted.

That being said you are a *beep* moron if you think people are going to like this crappy movie. Crap is crap is crap. Get it these guys lost their touch long ago

reply

there's really nothing to do with race- movies like this are just bad just like epic movie and disaster movie were bad
just because black people made it doesn't mean only black people will 'get' it

I'm better than you in every way

reply

You havent even seen the movie, yet your judging it. I will bet if you ask a black person who is better katt williams or louis c.k they will say katt, or even george carlin, they will say katt. Its just a matter or relating to the material. I dont thinkt the majortiy or whites can relate to living the black hood, barber shops, just being black. He does have alot of universal material also ,but thats beyond the point.
Being funny ,alot of the times, does have to do with race. And ask any "black" person did they like white chicks ill bet that 95% will say yes.

reply

[deleted]

Yeah you are a big racist. I'm White, I LOVED Don't Be a Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (as I loved Boyz in Da Hood and other similar films) because it was GOOD. The Wayans' Bros aren't bad comedians, at least they weren't before, but the quality of their films has gone down. So how about you don't make stupid racist comments like that, *beep* Why Don't you continue to segregate races more? Why don't you make some homophobic comments while you're at it?

I'm white and I thought Scary Movie 3 was hilarious. I had high hopes for this film based on the Wayans name. Now I don't know whether to see it!
God save Donald Duck, vaudeville and variety

reply

Yet again; racism and stereotyping is perpetuated over a goddamn film - round n' round it goes.

reply

[deleted]

Why do I have to be racist because I believe that the majority of white people have a different opinion of comedy that the majority of black people.

reply

[deleted]

I said the majority not entire. And to have a difference of opinion from someone is negative?

reply

I could tell immediately by reading his post it was a troll.

Don't judge all us white people OP....I saw this movie last night and I enjoyed it I thought it was very cute I laughed alot and I am a 30 year old white woman Plus I own Scary movies 1-4 and find them enjoyable too

Now thank and have a nice night

I guess Chris Rock only appeals to blacks as well.....oh, wait..he's actually funny. Or is he actually white? Which is it?

Wayans have been on a crap streak for a while now.

reply

I said to most white people this board cant really show a broad spectrum of them. Anyway so who do you think is better george carlin or chris rock?

reply

I'm black. This doesn't appeal to me. It looks sorta funny. Really really racist and stereotypical but hopefully in a satirical way that will comment on America and the black person's role in America or it could just be another dumb spoof movie this time making fun of how Hollywood (mostly white) views us as a people.

Either way. It deserves more consideration that just a first glance.
