Had to have seen like 20 movies to truly appreciate

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!

There were a few scenes that were very random and unnecessary (ex: the whole Ray Charles thing, Marlon Wayans' character) but I still really liked it. I gave it an 8/10.

They mocked so many different movies that unless you've seen them you probably wouldn't like it (hence the low rating). But I found it clever and very hilarious!

What dance movies are referenced in the film? From the trailer/poster I could guess a few of them (a lot of them are my faves - as a dancer obv.)

Flashdance
Hairspray
Step up/Step up 2
Save the Last Dance
Dirty Dancing

But yeah, what are the other movies referenced?

Good question I know they referenced Ray.

In the beginning when the movie start out with them dancing they got that from You Got Served with Marques Houston and members of B2K. That part in the movie where the guy do that move where he slides on his head before he went out into the street...lol. Minus the street part it came from Stomp The Yard (watch the ending when they dance crew battle).

I forgot what else it referenced.

Sugar Bear's "And I'm Tellin You" scene spoofs Effie White's song from the 'Dreamgirls' film.

wow you need to do something about your sense of humour if you think this was 'clever' goddam.

With most spoof films I've been very familiar with the majority of films being parodied, and I've often thought that was important for enjoying a spoof film. But with this one, I hadn't seen at least half of the parodied films. It didn't matter. I still liked it a lot. It got an 8/10 from me.

I think they meant other than the obvious dance movies. Like scary movie 1 & 2 (bbal dad was Greg in the 1st, tongue through both ears instead of a member, being run over & flying in the air, chris elliot, etc), final destination 2 (moms car crash scene), twilight, white chicks, and so on.

They reference way more than just the usual dance flicks...

"dude i dont care i just love this movie you guys have a realy taste in movies what wrong with you"

When a movie relies on current pop culture references to be "funny", it's actually the opposite of clever and funny. It becomes dated, and after a couple years, when everyone has either forgotten the references, or no longer knows them, the movie is stupid. That is the opposite of a clever comedy.
