It's pretty much just a recycle of other mediocre horror films

You have the two brothers(house of wax), that are deformed because of an explosion that leaked into the drinking water (hills have eyes). Then you have the group of teenagers going into the forest (what movie doesn't have this???), they uncover a grave site, and then psycho brothers start killing everyone. I'm not going to lie, it kept my attention, but towards the end when they put everything together, it just got stupid. It's like they put at least a little bit of thought into the first half of the movie, but then during the second half, it was just "oh yeah lets do that". Like it wasn't even thought out. I wouldn't pay to see it, but if you can see it for free, it's not a total waste of time. Like I said, it is entertaining at parts.

Was predictable, but not too bad. I found this film easier to watch than Dark Floors (2008)

It's only after we've lost everything, that we're free to do anything. - Tyler Durden

I agree with the Dark Floors comment. I thought that was going to be at least a bit decent. I was wrong. lol.

I thought this movie was decent at best. I'm not going to say I predicted the ending, but I didn't like the direction it went in. I gave it a 5.

I've watched it twice now, as "The Devil's Ground", on cable movie channels and would watch it again, perhaps even videotaping it. I have seen other "backwoods slasher" movies that I feel, for the most part, stunk. Now, they were predictable, unnecessarily gory, and simply poorly acted and written.

This movie kept me edgy and was quite atmospheric. Yes, there are certain elements always repeated in these movies, yet I felt more tension and unease while watching this than I ever did in the usual gorefests, which are simply repulsive. I don't recall a single "f bomb", unless I missed one, and they didn't rely on bad ol' gratuitous nudity and explicit sex scene to pad the story. I think the people responded believably. I like the lonely drive with the story told in flashbacks, and I think there are some impressive performers, especially Leah Gibson, whose fragile appearance and sympathetic demeanor add to the story's strengths. So many movies have such unlikeable "heroines" that it can be difficult to really care, but not in this one. (Yes, the two friends are b****y about the guy at the gas station and the general surroundings, but I did feel sorry for them and certainly didn't want to see them die.)

***SPOILER*** I like the ghostly hitchhiker angle, perhaps because Illinois has several famous stories, including up in Chicago. ***END SPOILER*** (Sorry. I don't know how to do the red spoiler thing.)

I say give this movie at least one chance. It's not the usual slaughterhouse story, which tends to be a turnoff, meaning that I often turn the channel after the second or third "clever" killing. I remember hesitating about watching it during the wee hours of the morning but am very glad I did. I'll say this: I look forward to crossing paths with it again! If I was in the mood for a marathon, I'd pair this up with "Wind Chill", "Dead End" and perhaps "Vacancy" or another film to be named later. "Just Before Dawn" and "The Final Terror" also are possibilities. Or, watch double Daryl Hannah in "The Devil's Ground" and "The Final Terror"!
