You've hit the nail right on the head here - basically this was always going to be an impossible task as there aren't 2 economies, one independant and one corporate.

So yes, his mobile provider, the petrol (gas) he put in his car, probably the ingredients in the food he ate, the electricity used to charge up his camera - hell even the camera itself are all products of the corporate world and as such the notion that he only paid $97 to "The Man" is absurd. I guess he only paid $97 directly to "The Man" which is probably how he justifies it.

Enjoyable film overall though, I'm surprised he didn't quote Tennessee Williams "I have always depended on the kindness of strangers"!

I really liked it. I think Dave Gorman is hilarious.

I can't believe how kind some of the people were. In England, you'd get nailed for a £100 easily if you had to be towed. And the mechanic who took him to a B&B. Mental. They'd just tell you to *beep* off and come back tomorrow here.

Women. You can't live with them, you can't skin them and make a woman suit from them.

"In England, you'd get nailed for a £100 easily if you had to be towed."

That's because tow companies are owned by "The Man" in the UK. The actual man who will drive out to find you and tow away your car is on a salary, he doesn't own the business, he can't tow people for free or he will lose his job.
