A single corporate entity?

Do you think it's possible one day that virtually every commercial operation on the face of the earth will be under the economic control of a single corporate body?

The number of companies in all sectors seems to go down every year. So many buyouts and mergers. This can't happen forever. Are we baby stepping towards what could be called capitalist communism?
