How about a debate?

What I would really like to see more than anything else on this topic is a debate, perhaps on DVD, between a prominent atheist (or agnostic) and a prominent Christian. I want to see the best from each side debate each other in a way that will leave us with few doubts about who's right.

There's a pretty good debate like this that debuted on ABC a few years ago between the rational response squad and kirk cameron.

I just want to point out that the reason the experts were all Christians is that they followed the evidence to the rational conclusion and couldn't help but see God.

reply

Did they now? And which god?

"I don't have an opinion. The word "opinion" implies the possibility I'm wrong."

I was watching this on Netflix in hopes that it would have some debate, there isn't, they just brush over all of the Gospels inconsistencies, by saying they are just two different view points, when in a more then a few occasions that is not the case. One is right and one is wrong.

But they just brush over it like its not important. Oh well, I was hoping it would be better.

Don't get me wrong, I am pro God, but I understand that a translation of a translation, of a translation can have mistakes.

The problem with live debates is they're easily commandeered by whatever side, in my experience the theists, has no shame in blurting out a stifling and conversation congesting wall of fallacy. Live debates are for sounding good in front of an audience, text debates are for proper scrutiny of your opponents argumentation.
