You'd think that whoever took the dog...

...would have left some message at the store that he was taking the dog. I mean, the dog was tied up with a leash, so the guy that took the dog must have been aware that there was an owner involved. I mean, it was nice of him to "rescue" the dog and all, but it would have been a great courtesy for him to have left word at the store as to the dog's new whereabouts.

He might not have known where the dog was found, since he got it from the pound. It wasn't stated in the movie, but I kinda got the idea that the kid in the store called the pound to pick up the dog. ???

I have not failed, I've found 10,000 ways that won't work.

I guess I'll have to watch it again to see if I can figure out the chain of events, because I can't recall exactly how the guy had the dog in his fenced-in yard, or how it came to be in his possession in the first place (I didn't think he got it from the pound, because Wendy had already checked the pound and the dog was not there from the get-go. So I assumed he was the one who "rescued" the dog from the store, and the pound found out about it later, and relayed the info to Wendy?).

But it just seemed to me that whoever took the dog from the front of the store should have left better word about what they were doing. Or, was it a case that the store workers were informed, but they didn't wish to be very helpful to Wendy, since she'd been busted in that very store for shoplifting? Maybe they didn't want to see her get her dog back.

The person who picked up Lucy probably thought that she had been abandoned. I would've left my contact info for the store manager and tied some sort of note around the post before I left off with another person's pet.

I think it was the stupid stock boy that had the dog hauled off by the pound. He was a **** about owners should be owners if they can't afford to feed the dog. I really hated his character.

For that matter, the police should have taken care of the dog when they picked up Wendy.

Exactly, In this town the locals take advantage of people passing through, whoever took the dog stole it, what a beautiful town.

I thought she said the guy had gotten it from the pound, before she made it there. Which means the seemingly very helpful woman there messed up initially in saying they hadn't had anything like that.

Just another example of how this town and most american suburbs work, we don't really follow up on things, we take advantage of people, we are self centered ignorant snobs.

This is how "outsiders" are treated in american towns, you don't belong here and you are not welcome, another form of prejudice in the society that defines predjudice
