Talking to women in movies

I watched this again with some friends... the consensus from the women was that they loved the way Dillinger spoke to Billie...

They especially liked the nightclub/restaurant scene and the coatcheck scene...

Why don't we see more of this in movies nowadays, this macho attitude? Is it too archaic and specific to the time period? Or is it just too stylised for today's movies?
