I liked it...(spoilers)

...Ok so its got more plot holes than a mole infested farm, acting of the most mediocre caliber, the special effects barely scrape by and are rarely above syfy movie of the week standards, do we get any explanation whatsoever? (other than the squid thing) hell's no and the budget was apparently $13,000,000 (would love to know what the money went on? car rentals presumably).

For all these major flaws, I actually rather enjoyed it, I mean come on, you're never gonna watch a movie about a killer car and expect high art are you, but it was in my opinion, just good dumb fun, with some cool cars, just about everybody dies (although they're all such unsympathetic characters, this is surely a good thing) and as a drinking aid it works perfectly. Also it has an ending so open for sequel, you kinda have to give em credit for thinking that this movie would ever get a follow up, the tune over the credits is pretty sweet too.

So if this does ever get a sequel (seriously, seriously doubt it) count me in, I'm intrigued to see just how a shed load of giant squid aliens, disguised as cars will take over the world.

Agree that if you totally shut off your brain, it's an enjoyable film. I grew up a huge fan of the 1977 film THE CAR, and this does a fair job of paying homage to it, right down to the red-tinted p.o.v. shots of the car stalking people.

That said, it could have been better. I think the impound setting might have worked for the beginning or end of the film, but setting 90% of it there was a mistake. The director was going for a claustrphobic vibe, but when you have a car as your villain and a bunch of abrasive morons as protagonists the options are pretty limited.

I wouldn't mind a sequel in a more open setting.

I agree that the single setting wasn't enough. It needed to get out and about. When I was watching the opening shots I thought I was in for a real treat, but then it settled into it's single interior location and gradually fell apart.

Still, it had some good moments.

Yeah, I actually liked it too. I was a little scared when I saw the previews to Sharktopus before it though. I was like, "oh *beep* it better not be made by THOSE people" I liked the movie though. My biggest complaint is the constant references to past events that they didn't elaborate on. They referred to Tilda as having experience with... stuff. I can't remember the exact line. And that she had a hard time with something. And maybe there was some significance to her locket? I don't know, and her nephew was referring to some creature that could morph into familiar objects to lure prey in. I would have like a little more back story. But, still a good movie.
