I noticed in this movie that the people pronounce it as NEWF-IND-LAND

I always assumed it was pronounced NEW-FOUND-LAND

Which is the proper way to say it?

Like Finland

Pronounce it like you would Understand. NOT like Finland.

That's closer. "Understand, Newfoundland." (Newfin-land)

Say it like NewFOUNDland only if you want to stick out like a sore thumb.
