Why doesn't Malcolm Barrett have any lines?

I was so excited to see him on the screen and with thirty minutes left in the movie he hasn't said a word? Why? Please don't use this wonderful and gifted actor as a mere window dressing.

I was bothered by that too. The fact that there were two white men doing all the talking was a bit unnerving. I kinda think the "last minute save" where he questioned the DA was a bit over the top. The script writers could have shown him ask pertinent questions at important plot points, but they didn't.

I assumed that he was a junior associate and the lead lawyers did the...umm...leading. I believe that he only took the lead at the end because of Dee's suggestion, that Beckett being questioned by a black lawyer would be the best chance to unnerve/unsettle Beckett. Now the two white lawyers should probably have figured that out themselves, but maybe that was an example of their own racism and how a black woman could see that clearly and they could not.

Maybe his dialog was cut in the version you watched? He had a lot of dialog in the last 1/2 of the movie on the Blu-Ray version I watched.

Amy: I swear to God...I swear to God! That is NOT how you treat your human!
