DVD released! (Limited Edition Director's Cut)

The long wait is over - I received the Limited Edition Director's Cut today, April 3. There is a wealth of extras inside, including postcards, a songsheet for "Gun lae gun" (Together) and souvenirs from the movie. A CD titled "Music from Motion Picture Soundtrack" is also included - a very pleasant surprise as it includes all the music cues from the movie and not a single track from the separately available "Original Soundtrack" album . The movie itself is spread over 2 DVDs with a total running time of 178 minutes and includes Thai subtitles. All the extras from the theatrical version DVD are included. A third DVD is absolutely packed with new extras, including a "Making Of", deleted scenes, a recording of the first performance of the August band (with very bad sound), a featurette about the music, a rather easy to find easter egg (featuring the director at a question and answer session at House Cinema where the Director's Cut was first shown) and, amazingly, the complete theatrical version of the movie with a video commentary by the director. As mentioned elsewhere, the replica of the wooden toy from the movie is not included. It will be available at a later date.

Please note that this package was only available on pre-order and is completely sold out. The Director's Cut is supposed to be released in a standard package at a later date.

Hi, I'm talking about Thailand releases only. However there is some indication that it will be released in Hong Kong and Taiwan, but not which version it will be. It may show up in other territories as well.

I managed to download a copy of the director's cut with different (better) English subtitles from a sharing site. Those added scenes definitely fill in a lot of the holes in the plot. I really wish they would release it on DVD with subtitles though. I would be happy to buy it instead of snagging it off the internet.

What!!! Just got around to checking out this edition (that I got about two weeks ago) and found out that the movie is spread out over DVDs 1 and 2? What kind of stupid decision is this? If I want to watch the whole movie, I have to put in Disc 1 until it gets to a certain part, then get up, change discs, and play the rest of the movie?

I could understand this if there was a size issue on the first DVD, but that's not the case. Instead of having the whole Director's cut version on the first disc, they put a little more than half of it, and put in some kind of weird bonusus (not sure what I would call them).

I'm sure that if they had decided to put those bonuses on the second disc, they would have had room to fit the entire movie onto one single DVD. The first DVD is a DVD 9 afterall (the second is a DVD5 and the third DVD9).

Who splits up a film to split up the bonuses?!!!!!

The only thing that could make sense is if the whole Director's cut wouldn't have taken up the whole DVD9 disc 1 DVD, and the bonuses were too big in size to fit onto a DVD5, and thus they split in order to be able to fit everything onto one DVD9 and one DVD5 (whereas if they had tried to do what I had hoped they had done, it would have required two DVD9's, and I'm sure that the bigger the DVDs, the more it costs to produce, so maybe it was a way of cutting down on costs).

Still, I find that for the price I paid (80 euros), I would have preferred to have the entire movie on one</> DVD, not spread out on two.
