Good question. I think nothing has been mentioned about her or Cristina Aguilera.
Maybe Katie was substituted by Debra.

She plays a cyborg assassin who is sent back in time from a future that has been taken over by machines. She is supposed to murder Luis Guzman because his children will one day oppose her, and also she has to find the ark of the covenant (it's in the family's basement).

Hehehe!!!! i had a giggle fit after reading your plot had 'Katie Holmes been casted instead'/ analysis. And i agree she cannot act her way out of a paper bag. She sucks! The Terminator plot within the plot would have made this movie even better. I dont understand why it didnt do better or get a better reception from audiences...
