I wish they wouldn't do the Vet soliloquys...

Good movie!

I wish when they had these troubled vet characters, that they wouldn't have the litttle soliloquys where they talk about the incidents that scarred them. I think its better if they leave it to the imagination.

The reason I feel this way is that being in combat situations, or being stationed in places like Afghanistan, is stressful enough to make someone troubled without having to have an easily dramatic incident. Like in that movie Brothers with Maguire and Gyllenhall, where there had to be this big story that Maguire just needed to tell and then "OK, now he told it, now the healing can begin, blablabla..."

Just telling your lying, cheating wife some scary story doesn't change anything. For him to be as unhinged as he was, it wouldn't even have made a dent.

Anyway, that's another movie. Nothing Like the Holidays is a really good movie, and it's the first time I liked Freddy Rodriguez in a role. He did a really good job. I just thought the scene where he told his ex about the incident was needless, and hurt the movie.

Some people just need to talk about their situations, Jesse just happened to be one of them.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"
