How sad and typical that nobody is dicussing Val Lewton

Val Lewton was an outsider who, against over whelming odds made some beautiful moments in film come to fruition. He was saddled with lousy titles, lousy budgets, and a bunch of studio suits fighting him every step of the way. His original ideas were copied and re-copied so many times that he was responsible for the lexicon of the horror genre yet almost nobody knows his name. I was a fan of his films without realizing that they were all made by the same intelligent and inventive person. Even after this fantastic documentary came out and he is getting recognition years after his death by a few well known film makers almost no one on this site seems interested. Lewton died sure that no one would remember his films, his contribution to film making. What a crying shame that this board isn't filled with discussions on his lighting choices and scenic designs alone. He was a non-conformist who sacrificed money and status to do what he felt he had to. I wonder if people even deserve to have his life's legacy films after all. Hey, I know what , let's all go talk about Terminator VIII and the re-re-re remake of some other formulaic piece of Hollywood's Crapfest on Parade.
