Slapstick writing killed it for me

I really wanted to like this film. Great cast, beautifully shot. But the script was SO labored. The communal shower scene where he goes looking for the supposedly injured whoever was terrible and effectively poisoned the rest of the film. It was like something from a Carry On movie. Come to think of it the slapstick started earlier than that, where the toff mother is in the limo drinking a Scotch etc. Ridiculous. What a pity.

Yep, that's amateur hour stuff.

I didn't mind the drunk mom, but Sedaris and Kattan seemed to be in an entirely different movie, one with broad slapstick humor rather than naturalistic drama. With a little editing out of their interactions it could be improved tremendously. (Kattan was great in Adam & Steve - which was a slapstick comedy.) Also, it seems implausible that an elite private school would ask a student to wake up twice during the night to get her roommate to the bathroom.

Not really slapstick, more like schoolgirl humor

I agree that Chris Kattan really destroyed this movie along with Amy Sedaris. That shower scene is so stupid that I knew this would be a Fail right away.
