I didn't know that was even possible. What happened? I just watched it on On Demand. (Only because Rooney Mara is in it). It's not that bad. I've seen worse movies that grossed $100 million.
Girls, never sleep with a guy who collects guitar amps but doesn't even bother to learn to play. This means he is a complete d-bag. No exceptions.
It was only released in a handful of theatres, with minimal advertising. Very few people even realized it existed, I suspect. Besides, this perfunctory release came two years after it played the Toronto Film Festival and only after Mara was cast as Lisbeth Salander.
It had a lot to overcome box office wise, and it couldn't do it.
It also took FOUR YEARS to make it to theaters (being filmed in the Fall of 2007)--that has to be close to a record these days.
