The Irony of it all

All this controversy about atheism....

The ideas in this book/movie can be summed up as a large powerful group of insecure religious types trying to control and limit the minds of people.

and how ironic that this **FICTIONAL** story drives large powerful insecure religious groups to try to control and limit the minds of people.

Its a great movie, and an even greater fantasy novel. With intelligent and challenging ideas.

The language may occasionally cross some lines if your sensitive with religion but within the context of the story it fits and is not used lightly, but the end message can be enjoyed by all people of all faiths.

Taken out of context allot of things in life can be easily misconceived.

I may not be a christian/catholic but somehow someway i can still find power full and beautiful meanings within the text of the bible.

If your secure with your beliefs and you love adventure/fantasy novels you are doing a strong disservice by passing up this unique story.

If your beliefs are so thin and fragile that a nonfiction story can insult your religious beliefs or damage the minds of your children (which you don't have any control of in the first place). Then maybe this book is the least of your problems.

Yes my opinion is biased cause yes iam an atheist. I read these books knowing nothing of the authors beliefs. My very intelligent grandmother who is a devout catholic and fan of fiction fantasy is going to read these books. I look forward to discussing the books with her in the future. maybe i will share her feelings and thoughts on these message boards one day.

Yep.

Where'd the rest of the board go?

I posted on another board, but I want to know where the atheism is. I've read the first book and I don't see the atheism, I see Gnosticism which is quite different from atheism. You can't have a book about atheism and talk about souls. Atheists don't believe in the soul and they don't believe in the underworld and many other ideas that brought into play in the books. Gnosticism makes more sense, and he even said in an interview on his own website that if he is anything he is agnostic. Why does everyone confuse Gnosticism with Atheism?
