Ray Nagin looks like an idiot in the DVD Extras

Anybody catch the exchange between Kim and mayor Ray Nagin? She confronted him at the Democratic Conference of Mayors. She asked him when there was going to be more economic development in the 9th Ward, there were few jobs and the ones that are there are low paying.

Nagin actually said that po' boy shops have opened there, and people earn $1500-$1800/week working in them!

Kim said, "that's what you think? they earn $8 an hour."

Nagin said (get ready) "and 50 cents per sandwich."

What planet is he living on if he actually thinks that someone making sandwiches in a po' boy shop earns $1500-$1800 per week! Gee, does he think that people working at McDonald's earn 50 cents for each hamburger they make, too?

Why not just be honest and say that he doesn't give a *beep* about the 9th Ward and what happens there, rather than making inane comments and standing there with that fake politician smile on his face.

I too had my jaw drop several times watching Nagin in this clip, especially at the end when he kept telling Kimberly, "Don't give up!" He had absolutely no idea of what she or anybody else in his own city had been through. (He was as out of touch as that dopey tourist agency girl who kept yammering on about how nice the French Quarter was for people who needed their vacations.)
