Mississippian

Another great movie similar to When the Levees Broke. I especially loved watching Kimberly because she is such a selfless and courageous person. I hope that she is blessed with a very lucrative music career.

What I didn't like, for very personal reasons that have nothing to do with the film, is the fact that Mississippi is totally ignored once again. I realize that this movie focuses around the Roberts family but it is very disheartening to know that we had far more devastation and nobody knows about it. We were just pushed aside and forgotten. Just saw the film. I thought the same thing. Mississippi and Alabama were devastated by Katrina as well. But they always seem to be left out. My personal opinion, they are left out because it does not fit the narrative that the US government failed because they hate black people. That was the underlying message of the film. There is no denying that.

On a much lighter comparison, during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, New Jersey got all the press. But Ct and NY got it just as bad. Obviously that hurricane is not on par with Katrina, but it is the same idea of media coverage.
