Yes, a waste of time, unless you are an adult who watches cartoons.

Don't know if you've tried other French films in the same quirky style but I would certainly have agreed with your comment had I not conditioned myself to this type of film by watching a few in short order.

For years I avoided this kind of film but finally watched Amelie, Delicatessen and even The Closet so I kind of got what the film was trying to do - fantasy.

If it's foreign / sub title thing - try 36th Precinct, PointBlank, Tell no one as these are all decent French action films where the action overtakes the fact it's French.

Specific to Micmacs - it was not as good as Amelie or Delicatessen.

I'm an adult who MAKES cartoons. I loved it.

But according to live action film-snobs I'm not a "real" film-maker because I draw my films one frame at a time, instead of shoot them with a camera so I guess my opinion isn't worth as much
