Lord of War anyone?
sounds similar doesn't it?
shareEehm, how so? Because it's about illegal gun trade? Riiight....
shareThe plot outline states:
"A satiric comedy set in the world of illegal gun trade."
This could also easily describe Lord of War. The point was valid. I'm sure as soon as we learn more details about the plot it will separate itself from Lord of War to a certain degree. But until then, I agree with the original poster.
Lord of War a satiric comedy? Did you watch it high?
shareLord Of War was not a comedy. It had some light parts, but that doesn't make it a comedy or a satire for that matter. Plus it was a true story.
shareVAGUE.
shareThe basic premise is the story of guy (Dany Boon) who takes a bullet in the head and barely survives. Then he is helped by a bunch of strange people (Jean-Pierre Marielle , Yolande Moreau, Dominique Pinon, Omar Sy, Julie Ferrier) and will search revenge against the illegal gun traders who provoked his misfortune.
I'm directly quoting Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Dany Boon from the french tv news.
From what I've seen of the behind the scenes stuff (which is pretty minimal), it looks more like delicatessen or city of lost children than amelie or a very long engagement.
it does but i doubt Jeunet's will be similar in the end.
shareWell Nic Cage isn't in it so I'm sure it's promising.
"Don't just stand there, do something!"
"Help. Police. Murder."
I don't think Lord of War constitutes a comedic satire.
shareLord of War was a pile of steaming dung, starring a man who has as much acting ability as a comatose beetle.
This, on the other hand, is a film crafted by the greatest French director in recent times.
There is a difference.
Vive' la Difference
Lord of War? More like: YOJIMBO!
But it did happen
more like lucky number slevin, where the main character pits two mob bosses (in this case arms dealers) against each other
shareFelt the same, even with the rivals across the street from each other.
shareI could see elements of both Lord of War and Lucky Number Slevin in it but they are mediated through the surreal imagination of Jeunet, particularly in the placing of the rivals' buildings facing one another. Amazing, funny and highly original despite the obvious homages, Jeunet is a formidable talent.
Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

I suspect the Nic Cage film is much different, but I was thinking of that film while I watched this.
