God what a disappointment...

City of lost Children is one of my favorite films of all time and I really like Amelie and Delikatessen as well, but this was just... boring, just incredibly boring. The story was just un engaging, the character were flat and not as funny as they could´ve been. The biggest problem has to be the fact that every positive of the film, he has already done better. The whimsical humour and style was ok, but it just worked far better in his other films. Sadly there was barely anything redeeming about the film, just a massive bore.

Sorry to hear that you didn't like this one. I too like Amelie (rated 9) and City of Lost Children (8) and Micmacs (8), Havn't yet seen Delikatessen. As for Micmacs, just watched it again for the third time, still enjoyed it. The movie is more subtle than seems obvious at first, hence my suggestion that you don't give up on it. Even the dancing dress at the end, to me, seems to symbolize the change that has occurred over the course of the characters lives. From ugly, colourless, clunking robots to a soft texture and a graceful twirling of colours.

Holy smokes... 99 channels and there's nothing on! - The Kid (2000) 
