Can There Be Nazis In An E-Rated Game?


I was thinking about that the other day. I mean, Nazis were a big part of Raiders and Last Crusade, so will Lego Indiana Jones keep the Nazis, or will they get rid of the swastika and just have "evil villains?" I just thought this might be an interesting thing to bring up.

I was thinking of the same thing. The Star Wars Lego game pretty much reacted almost every scene in the movies. Can you imagine if this game had a lego Indiana Jones fighting lego Nazi troops? I wonder if there will be a lego Adolf Hitler signing autographs.

Not trying to break everyone's desires. But I read slightly bad news on various sources about Traveler's Tales replacing the "Nazi party" with an annyomous evil organization. Indy will have an army of bad guys to fight off. Only they won't referrence Nazis in any way.

The good news is all the Indy villians will still be playable in this game including Toht, The German Mechanic, Belloq, etc.

I know this may seem shocking, but just know this was done so Traveler's Tales won't get a large list of hate mail from international countries who are still offended by the mention and site of "Nazism".

This may seem bad, but it's just one tiny change to the game. I'm pretty positive we'll all expect to see this game as successful as Lego Star Wars.

I'm happy and I agree that the Nazism was removed from the Lego Indy Original Adventures.

I reckon theyll have the Nazis looking the same as they do in the movies and everything, only theyll remove the swastikas and any mention of Hitler or the word Nazi.

Finally got the game... no Nazis. Just a buncha enemies wearing green. Some wearing beeige, etc. Depending on the scene, they stayed true to the movie otherwise.

Removing NAZIs was a very stupid move on the Traveler's Tales' part.

Seriously, it's like rewritting history.

Almost as stupid as turing GI JOE: Real American Hero into the General International squad as in the upcoming movie I will never watch.

To make issues even dumber, some of the characters 'salute' and others goose-step. I sort of see the danger with turning them into cutesy LEGO characters but just give them all scowls and make it clear they are the bad guys. PERIOD.

If I were a parent this game would almost make feel as though they are treating those horrible people like fictionalized bad people, a la Stormtroopers from SW Lego.

Talk about a hidden pun ... all white, evil Stormtroopers.

Oh well, in general it's a good looking game and fun to play although I was a little offended at 'marion in nightgown' since it's virtually a female lego charcter running around in her lego under wear. Seriously, the Leia bikin seemed classier then a lego thong IMHO.

Calling them Nazis and using swastikas would have forced the ratings bureau to rate this children's game MA for Mature. I think that decision would have been infinitely more stupid than anything you can come up with regarding historical accuracy or your evident self-importance.

Yeah, most of these posts do have the point to the whole "Nazism being taboo for kids and most 3rd world countries".

I played the game recently, and it took awhile to get use to the "Annoymous Enemy Group" as the replacement of the Nazis. Probably because over the years I'm always use to seeing Toht, Belloq, and Donavan working for the Nazis. But atleast the villians in the game are still true to their original personality.

I was impressed on how the game succeeds with the slight alterations on death scenes and memorible scenes as well.

I think they really should have left the Nazis in. They were a real part of history and the kids are gonna have to learn about them sooner or later. They would definitely be evil characters so I don't see what the problem is. They still existed and exonerating them from a Lego game isn't going to change that.

I think, therefore we have nothing in common.

I honestly didn't mind at all, because the Nazis still looked like Nazis reguardless, like they still had the uniforms and what not, and it felt and seemed like the only thing taken out was the Hitler scene from Cruisade and any swatstikas, so I really don't mind, so I still referr to them as Nazis

It's a bit disappointing that they've removed references to the Nazis, but still... The "enemies" as they call it, have blond hair and blue eyes so it doesn't take much imagination to know who they're supposed to be.

You should be aware that there is a large difference between what you think and what the rest of the world thinks.

Personally, I would much rather the children learn about the world's most evil organization in a school setting at the appropriate time, than encountering them in what is supposed to be a family-oriented video game.
