Can anybody explain this movie to me? I did not follow it well.

If Polly wasn't really hearing voices, what was her (ex)boyfriend doing at her apartment?
Why did Polly kill her (ex)boyfriend along with her sister?
The doctor knew that Polly killed her (ex) boyfriend and was still in love/obsessed with her? and polly knew this so she knew he wasnt going to report it.
I'm am just overall confused.

I thought about watching it a second time to find out what I missed about the plot or the twist in the end but I agree, it was probably just poorly directed and the storyline was not constructed well.
shareIf it was supposed to make sense it did fail. But having a dreamlike/crazy plot worked in a way to.
To reconstruct: her boyfriend was cheating and she was stressing about a job interview, her boss sister boyfriend were all creeps, isolating her and causing her to detach somewhat from reality, when her boyfriend admitted to an affair she attacked him and the sister joined in because he just broke up with her, and when he was dead everyone felt better. Basically all the characters were nuts before the movie started (except maybe the boyfriend...)
