Sorry... I got bored and fast-forwarded through the movie starting about 5 minutes into it. I thought I could zip straight to the special effects -- guess the joke was on me.

So I missed most of the dialogue (whew) -- did they try to explain where the monster came from?

no they dont it sucks its a tentacle with smaller tentacles comin off of it and the roar is the cloverfields roar played backwards
