The 2nd in-line detective was a horrible casting choice. Doing something as simple as making the actor more realistic and the character more down to earth would have gone miles as to making the film better. Also taking advantage of actor Noah Segan would have been a wiser choice, as he only makes it through half the movie and has already become a veteran of horror movies.

This film directly as a result of the director. Yes, the premise is weak but that has never stopped a horror movie of rom getting decent reviews. The most basic script can go a long way in a horror scenario, whatever shortcomings this film goes through are the directors fault...

I do think the casting here was fine, and actually I think some of them could've done better. All the blame goes onto production who wrote and directed a pile of crap.

I think the writing and directing WAS the main culprit. Even if the acting was terrible, a better script and better written characters would've made a world of difference. These were horrible, unlikable characters that were given terrible dialog, all fitted into an extremely stupid story concept. It should be a crime to have writing this bad. The whole fight between brother and sister over emailing and social life made me want to transcend reality, jump into the movie and kill them myself.
