Where does the idea come from?

From the premise, it sounds kind of like the video game DOOM. Was the inspiration taken from there?
shareGehenna was basically a burning garbage heap outside of Jerusalem in ancient times. Bodies of crimnals/animals/trash were all thrown in. It later become a way to describe hell.
It's one of the many "biblical" themes that this movie got wrong.
And yes this is a total rip-off of Outpost.

Funny cause it sounds a lot like the video game 'Clive Barker's Jericho' so much there's even a Wikipedia blurb about this movie on the video game wiki.

It's not based on *any* legend huh? Sooooo the Nephilim and fallen angels are entirely original and invented by you? You should know someone must have used a time machine to steal your idea and put it in the bible. And various other films and books and video games made before your film. Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness was like a mash up of this and the Da Vinci code. You and Dan Brown should take that one on together, I'm sure you can sue what with it all being original and not based on any legend or mythology or anything.
