DVD NO ENGLISH SUBS!!!!

Ok..again I have been disappointed and stymied by the Japanese attitude towards their DVD releases... Last year, the official Japanese DVD of KABE, also starring Shida Mirai was released with ENGLISH subs.
So, why then, is a movie that has been appeared in foreign film festivals, and was chosen by Japan as its official enter for the Oscars, not have a English subtitle selection in both the premium and std. dvd? Since the film already wwas translated, and had subs for international audiences..the oversight is perplexing.
Since my command of the Japanese language is not up to this heavy dialogue film now, rather than buy the Japanese version, and give my hard earned money to the Japanese, I must wait for the Malaysian or Chinese bootleg version to come out!
BAKA, BAKA Nihon desu ne!!

Sadly, this is the myopia that comes with being an island nation. And, of course, having a domestic market so sizable that they can afford to ignore the rest. Look to Korea for a very different approach. Almost all Korean DVDs have subtitles in English and conversely have enjoyed greater success abroad the last 10 years.
