Here's the synopsis from the SXSW website...
Synopsis:
An abused and alienated teenage boy, Abe (Ryan Donowho), and his absentee father, Sonny (Xander Berkeley), attempt to re-establish their relationship while struggling to overcome addictions to crystal meth amidst a household of meth addicts. In addition to handling the demons within, Abe must protect his six year-old cousin, Deandra, from her abusive father, Bump (Anson Mount), whose addiction to meth fuels jealousy and contempt for Abe. The persistent inner battle against drug addiction and the spiraling behavior of those around him lead Abe to take drastic action in order to save himself and his young cousin.
Sounds really good. I'm looking forward to this one.

shareI just got back from SXSW and saw the film yesterday afternoon. It is an absolute great film, but it is really hard to watch. I mean it. I am not queasy when it comes to films, but this one is definitely a film that you may have to get some fresh air for.
That being said, it is extremely bare-bones and vicious on the subject of meth, and what it can do to people, let alone families.
It is a gritty, well-made first film from Pomes.
