I wonder

How many times has the character of Dracula been killed in movies? Its gotta be in the thousands somewhere. And for that matter, which character has been killed in more times than any other?

Counting all the ways people have spun off the standard Dracula stories? Easily in the thousands all around the world, I'd think.

what other characters do you guys think are like that? Who have been killed over and over again? I can't come up with anyone even close.

At first I was thinking it would have to be some sort of historical figure (including Dracula in that) so there would have been multiple movies made about the same character, but even that doesn't really work since I can't think of any event with a specific figure where more than 2-4 movies have been made about it. So next I went on to horror characters and really unless you count the wolfman with all werewolves (which I don't think is fair) Dracula is really the only one who has been in a vast array of movies.

Next best I could come up with is Julius Caeser (probably not even in the 100s) and Kenny from South Park (not really a movie thing).

I'm actually stumped. Anyone got any suggestions?

Any monster has probably been killed numerous times. I'm think Godzilla-type and the spin-offs. Also, monsters like the werewolves, etc.

What about dragons? They're fairly popular in literature so I assume they've been killed a lot in movies, too.

Generic aliens have probably been killed thousands of times, esp. recently.

Maybe there's something about vampires and Dracula that resonates with people in different countries/cultures.

But I was thinking more of a specific character, more so than a generic monster or species. I guess I could count Godzilla, but he rarely dies, and he almost always fights a different monster.

Dracula's kind of iconic. Whenever there are vampires in a movie or TV show, there is some sort of oblique reference to Dracula, I think. So I'm pretty sure he's the only one that fits your criteria.

Does a generic Nazi count? They're pretty evil in just about every movie they show up in (except maybe Valkyrie, where there are "good" Nazis).

Hi. I am currently working on my master's thesis on vampires. It's my third master's but the first one that has allowed me to study my favorite literary figure. Statistically speaking Dracula holds the record for being the book that has been turned to film more that any other. It is also the one with the most references in books, movies, tv shows, comic books, and social societies.
It is really a fascinating subject to study
