At the part when Flynn was looking at the painting in Simone's place, she explained that the knight in the painting was the original librarian who built the library and is the keeper of all its secrets. She says that his name is Yehudah, which Flynn concludes is the Hebrew name for Judson. So Judson is the original librarian and the one who built the library. Also at the end when you see the aerial view of the large collection annex, it is the tree of knowledge similar to the design on the knight's shield in the painting.

Judson is not Judas. Judas was the last vampire, doomed to walk the earth forever. In the second one, you see him out in the sunlight; though in a dream.

WHOA.. can't believe I ttoally missed that.. was definitely trying to figure out the meaning of that last shot. makes total sense.. and Judson has said.. he "was a librarian too".. in the first movie actually towards the end.. So.. Judson being an immortal, or at least long lived entity of some sort makes ocmplete sense.. and him being a vampire? makes even more now. having seen the abilities that are almost a complete match to his own. Of course Judson would never actually own up.. or admit to.. well anything.. part of what makes his character fun..

although.. I was a bit disappointed, in parts, with this installment.. I still think its better than the second. NOT as good as the first.. taking a more.. "The Historian" type of approach to the vampire myth.. at least its what it reminded me of alot.. but the action was really scaled back from the first.. but wasn't almost inexplicable action beats for its own sake either.. which is a good thing.

The way it sounded to me.. and maybe Wyle would no long be interested in TV.. but it sounded almost like the new film was setting up for a new series on.. well TNT.. it wouldn't surprise me.. as isn't Devlin producing "Leverage" that premiered right after? I think a Librarian series would fit in well with TNT.. although I think the 2 hour movie format is a much more fitting and self contained beast for the character..and as Lucas has said about Indiana Jones part of the difficulty is finding a deus ex machine or mcguffin for each new movie.. and the Crystal Skull was no Sankara stones in my book..

Personally.. I don't see a MOVIE.. maybe.. and I'd LOVE that.. but..more moderately, but still better than what was on TNT, budgeted DIREC TO DVD releases could be possible.. look at all the Warner Indepdent labels, Paramount has one now too, as well.. and Sony.. all the companies are throwing up genre direct to video arms for production of sequels to Lost Boys.. Grease, When Nature Calls, The Naked Gun.. and I hear Airplane as well.. I think The Librarian would at LEAST have the ability to use and retain its ORIGINAL cast unlike most of the other projects out there..

I thought that at first, but then look at the name: perhaps it means he is "Judas's son", and is doing good in order to repent his father's evil?????

if they recently found the fountain of youth, then he certainly would have found something 2000 years ago that would have made him aged slowly.

Forgive me but isn't he the reincarnation of the messiah, hence the battle between good and evil; you know, like they've got all the religious artifacts pertaining all very much towards Christianity, but only a little else mentioned?
I definately don't think he's supposed to be judas, my alternative theory is he's just a ghost!

wow, are the people on this site really that daft; his actually identity is not total known but it is strongly hinted that he is The Scholar the first librarian, beyond that what the scholars real origins or why Judson is that old we dont know

he is not judas, and it was even stated at one pointed that judas was dead anyway, but even if he is not that would make no sense cause Judson has been out in the light etc.

I belive that when Judson answers: "telling im 2000 years old is an insult" he was reffering that he is way older than that, and that he coupled him a kid in his terms, making him probably like 10000 years old.
