The french mutants weren't attacking they were just fleeing and were on a full-scale retreat.
Same with the french survivors.
They were just fleeing into each others arms, so the zombies took a bite or two.

The german zombies on the other side are so much more awesome - I write down only one word: NAZIZOMBIES.
