Compelling but Smug Tale of Complicity, CoverUps + Scapegoatism

i've come to expect stellar production values from british-made film and video but this movie disappoints in that regard; nevertheless, it's a compelling story. afterwards however i felt the message seemed smug. britain pointing its finger at the israeli army is hypocritical considering its history of colonization and its ongong occupation of northern ireland. the story of thomas hurndall is tragic but it could be better told.

I don't think it's useful to think of this as one country (Britain) pointing the finger of accusation at another (Israel), and then criticising the history of the accusor. This film struck me as being made by an individual or group who saw an injustice and a cover-up, and wanted the world to know about it. "Britain" didn't make this movie, and any failure of Britain to unhold ideal standards does not invalidate the message behind it. If a country has made any errors in its past, can its film-makers no longer seek to criticise another countries actions ?

What about US foreign policy, anyone ? France and Spain have screwed up abroad too. And as for Germany....if we viewed it like this, who is left to make films critical of foreign Governments ? Switzerland maybe....or Iceland. Good luck with that.

A very strange post.

An innocent photographer's unlawful killing shouldn't be made known because of the actions people who happened to be born in the same country as him decades (and sometimes centuries) before he was even born?
