I really enjoyed it, likeable characters, great dancing.
I can't see it being enjoyed by non dance movie fans though
I disagree. After the predecessor, Center Stage, this is just awful. The acting is bad and the choreography is lackluster. It looks like it was straight to video.

Dance fans or dancers can tell that this movie was horrible. I'm gonna re-post something that I posted before:
Like all the other dancers here have said: the technique was atrocious. It was insulting to any trained dancer to even try to pass it off like it was ok! I'm sorry, in ballet, you need training (no matter how many dance videos you watch, you will never get the correct training unless you see a teacher). Not only was the dancing bad but the acting was 5 times worse than any other dance movie I've seen (this includes "You Got Served"). The only person I enjoyed seeing on screen was Kenny Wormald (even though his ballet is not up to par either)!
All in all, this movie is just one of the worst movies I've seen and was not enjoyable because of all that was wrong with it. There were a few moments and I'm not going to deny those moments but they don't make up for the rest of the movie.

I obviously don't know what dance it all about.
If the poster above is a dancer then I must defer to reason. I'm a Film Director and sometimes (not often) I have to stand around and listen to an audience that enjoyed what I know was an atrocious film.
I stood up, in my living-room when the finale came around, and gave a standing ovation, a long one.
The movie was horrible. And the music (not the sound-track) was even worse. Dearee me.
But the dancing. I've never seen anything like it. Perhaps that's because I've never watched ballet before as such.
But if these people dancing, were the same people acting, it's a tour-de-force.
So. Next time I have to sit through a bad movie that people enjoy, I'm going to keep my mouth shut, and let them enjoy it.
Because every so often I remember that the whole point to it is to touch the audience.
And sometimes...just sometimes...that's more important than my opinion.
The Dance in this film lifted me.
I personally thought the dancing was very good. I have never been professionally trained but I did take dance lessons for almost 12 years so I really appreciate dance movies. It may not have been the best dancing out there but I still thought it was very good.
