Where were their parents?

How old were the main 4 supposed to be? It seemed as if the guy and his girl lived in the same house as if they owned it. I was confused, i did not believe they had that whole house for themselves. Wouldn't they need to show the parents to lean on since they just went through a traumatic event.

They were supposed to be college seniors. They went to the track to take their minds off of studying for finals. In a deleted scene it is revealed that they have both acquired jobs already. Nick a "low level broker" and Lori an architect. Neither one of them "own" anything together. They share an apartment together that is likely rented.

We're also left to assume that these are privileged college kids who can pay for pretty much anything (whether with the assistance of their parents or not is never clarified). They have apartments, vehicles, go to country clubs, buy expensive stuff at the mall, etc. So for their age, they're supposed to be lucky I guess.

Hope that helps (:

Thanks, usually these movies involve them while they are just starting college, so i assumed they were freshman, but from the way they acted, they acted like they were in high school still.
