Something was off with these protagonists

All of them, but particularly the main guy, seem so ridiculously calm and cool even in the face of all that has happened to them and took it in stride. The protagonists of the first three films all came out of the initial disasters as psychological and emotional wrecks. It just seemed like an awkward transition.

I know! It was ridiculously off because I thought he'd be going insane after seeing all of that happen but he....didn't....

I agree. For example, when Nick has the second premonition (the one before Samantha's death), he says "Ever since I left the racetrack, it feels like there's something in the room with me".

Where was he getting this impression?

The other premonitionists were much better, especially Wendy. She lost her loving boyfriend and her best friend in the roller-coaster derailment, and you could feel her anguish in the fact that she wasn't able to stop it. With the school scene, you get the impression that she's basically given up on life.

They were awful. Very unlikeable. The casts from previous FDs were atleast funny & somewhat likable.

Maybe if the script hadn't been hacked to an 82 minute Rushjob the movie could've been better. I mean it just seemed like there was so much missing. the editing is so choppy in some scenes.

I mean WTF were they thinking? "Alright... let's cut out the annoying Backstory of the characters and get right to the deathscenes." I consider it a TV movie of the week treatment of the "Final Destionation" series.

Totally agree, the whole script was just rushed and lazy in this film. I also felt that they just couldn't be bothered with the back story.

I said before, this whole film was written from the point of view of the audience, not good film/character writing; 'well, they know what's going on, no need to put it in the film, Let's just skip to the deaths'.

Today is at least the 2nd time I've tried to watch this movie and it's horrible, mostly the acting I guess. the first 3 were pretty good but this one is terrible.

reply

Suppose it could partially be explained by the fact that they were the first characters not to lose someone close to them in the accident (Some of Alex, Wendy and Kimberly's friends all died in the accidents), but yeah, that still doesn't mean that they should just shrug it off after half a day.

FD5, eh?

reply

If you hated the movie, that's your choice, but you thought the characters were calm, I seriously don't think you paid any attention. Nick looked f^cking paranoid half the time.

My favorite Final Destination is the 4th – DEAL with it!

reply

Yeah, he looked stoned. He should be in Half Baked 2 and keep mumbling about feeling like he was touched or there was someone else in the room. Now that is a believable character.

reply

Yeah, bad acting, but for me personally, it added to the fun. It was a cheesy experience all around -wooden acting, bad script, bad visual effects... but a fun ride.

reply

I agree,to say he just had a vision of people dying so grusomely,he came back to reality too calm easy going.

"For christ sakes don't you get it?people are dying and we could be next..."(possible lines from final destination 6 ha ha)

reply

Also the conversation right after Samantha's dies is SO STUPID. Nick seems to accept what's happening way too easily and knows 'the rules' inside out.

reply

He had more of an "OH, I get it... 'down in front something'... heh, neat, so you are all gonna die... yep" attitude that was just so ridiculous. It was played too much like a parody of Final Destination. Like an SNL sketch that wouldn't end.

If you look at some of the scenes they cutout (especially the ones not on the DVD - they're on YouTube somewhere I think, I can't remember if they're on BluRay) you'll see that Bobby's acting is actually better in those than in the movie. His reaction to the premonition is far more realistic, so I think some of it came from having to redo the scene again or something, he's not the worst actor I've seen, at least he tries - I just think most of it was cut out, just like any real development of Nick's character.

Even Bobby himself thought they could have developed Nick better.

Part of being an actor is choosing your director and your script well, and he made a bad choice there first. I don't feel sorry for him that people think he sucks. If he actively made good acting choices, we wouldn't have a reason to blame him even with a bad script and director.

I was thinking the same throughout the movie.
Even the guard was so cool, he tried to do death's thing himself (if you pardon the laugh).
