And Then... *spoiler*

**Spoiler Alert***

I really, really liked this movie - more than "500 Days..." for sure. I felt I could relate to the characters; like someone said earlier it didn't try too hard to be clever. I'm just wondering - what do you think happens in the end? Do you think Vandy & Peter stay together, or do their problems overcome them?

I know the ending portrays them as working it all out (when Peter says he wants to be with her despite their occasional dysfunction) but is it do-able? I mean, she did make him stay on the couch...

From what I understood, the wedding scenes take place after the scenes of Vandy and Peter at the jewelry shop/Peter sleeping on the couch. When they are dancing and talking about another couples relationship woes, Peter says: "I would have told you but it happened last year...during winter." I assume he's referring to the time they were split up. So the wedding scenes are the last moments the audience sees of Peter and Vandy's relationship.

Am I getting the time sequence right, I try to follow but some of the time sequences can get a little fuzzy.

To answer your Q, IMO I don't think their relationship lasts. Vandy goes for the guys that are pushover's. Her ex-boyfriend reminds me a lot of Peter, e.g., the ex didn't stand up to her and Peter always says he's sorry and tip toes around her, especially in the beginning of their relationship and after reconciliation.

do you think the scenes when he is getting in the bed and her saying "i'm not ready yet" and apologizing in the end before touching her side was after the breakup and the beginning stages of them getting back together too? it seemed that way i thought it was the beginning stage of the relationship.

I actually didn't realize this while watching the film but thinking over it again there is actually a lot of evidence to suggest that the wedding takes place after Peter and Vandy get back together. Another point that I thought of is that at one point Vandy says something to the effect of "A few weeks ago when you were being so nice to me, it didn't feel like it was actually you". The only time that we see Peter being so nice as to qualify that statement is right after they get together again (the final clip shown) where he rushes around to help fold the blanket and all that. When Vandy gives him a look during this scene he even says "I am trying too hard".

Also, the wedding scenes, though we see glimpses of their disfunctions, they seem to get along better. It also adds another level as during the wedding they both say "I never want to act like that" (refering to the other couple) and seem to not realize that they ever have in the past (which if the wedding is after the rest of the story, clearly they have done the same thing. This just goes to further support the movies "message" of how "blind" people can be to what is really happening in a relationship. All this, I would say, just adds to the genious of the script.

The wedding is obviously the last portion of the timeline. Peter is fully shaven and hair cut short so to cue us in.

As the other posters have said, the wedding scenes are the latest in their timeline so they are back together. I had to go back and rewatch the movie because I was distracted during the first run and this is a movie you have to pay attention to or you lose track of what is going on and miss many little things that make the movie make sense as a whole.

In the beginning of the first wedding scene (around 16:50)when the black couple have their argument over the tip to the bartender, Jesse Martin's character Paul is introduced to Vandy's brother-in-law and he says to Peter with a look of surprise "You're right, he really does look like that guy" (meaning the guy Peter had confused for Vandy's brother-in-law at the bar after their break up). I missed that comment the first time watching and only made the connection to what he meant because I had to rewatch the movie. That comment along with the other clues the other posters mentioned makes it obvious the wedding scenes are the last in their timeline so they are obviously staying together at that point and appear to be reasonably happy.
