Did Mr. Hardy seem a little gay to you?

There's a classic situation where a gay man will deny is feelings and get married and have children and later divorce to recognize his true nature. It's just a gut feeling I have.

There is no "off" position on the genius switch.

I must admit that although the gaydar didn't go off immediately, I too thought, after the film was over, "Hmm... I wonder if George is gay?" Not that it matters one way or the other, it was just a feeling that I was struck by.

But then, many of the uber-fans in the film are quite obviously gay (as well as several other members of the cast), so perhaps there were some *fabulous* vibes going on during the making of this movie that are at least partly responsible for its cult following. :-)

I finally got to see this thing and was going to ask about the film's gay appeal. This subject answers that question...

reply

The film's gay appeal? What are you even talking about?

reply

well, judging from all the gay men attending those special screenings (especially the smaller ones), I wondered what was up.

reply

It has some gay appeal because the movie is campy. Creedence!

I would be my house (if I had one) that he is. I mean, given how goodlooking he is, and physically fit, and successful, there's no way some woman wouldn't have snatched him up if he was interested. Yet he remains a "bachelor". Plus, he and his ex-wife are best friends. That's a dead give-away. Not that it matters one wit. Just an observation. There's nothing homophobic about wondering whether or not someone is gay. Whenever someone post a thread like this, someone else says "why does it matter" It doesn't, but this is a message board and it's obviously something a lot of people were thinking, not just the OP.

He also compares watching "Troll 2" a lot to Celine Dion having to constantly sing "My Heart Will Go On," or as George puts it, "the 'Titanic' song." He even says "Poor Celine."

That might be the gayest thing he does in the movie.

But you got the name right and he didn't. I think his version was the straight version, he's had to hear the song all over and still doesn't know the name, you meanwhile have it. Your comment is thus 100 times more gay.

I kept having visions of JM J. Bullock trapped in Craig T. Nelson's body.

You think he may be gay? Really?

That's like watching Shaft and coming up with the conclusion "I think the main bloke in that may have been black".

Hardy seems like he is very much aware of what's in his flowerbeds, and fair play to him. He seems happy and that's all we can ever really hope for in life. Well, happiness, the music of Judy and Sex and the City marathons.

I got the same impression from watching the movie. And then I kind of wondered if he got turned on re-enacting that infamous scene where he throws his son into the bed lol

Michael, the director, was the one who came off as gay to me. I was shocked to find out he's married to a woman.

reply

Me too!

Well both.

reply

When I saw the film last night on Chiller, I immediately thought that Michael, when we first we him on camera, gave off a gay vibe (based on way that he talked). Then I checked on Wikipedia, and was too a bit surprised to find out that he was married to a woman w/ two children.
