Troll 2 does have a cult following, but it's not a horror film even though it tried to be one, so among a bunch of people who have come to look at the heavyweights of the horror genre, your Nightmare on Elm Street, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, The Exorcist, and so on, Troll 2 is hardly going to get a look in. People watch Troll 2 as a funny, weird curiosity, and in a convention dedicated to that, it would have done very well.
To be honest, that part where George and co. go over to the convention, thinking their movie is hot s***, and George desperately trying to show the convention-goer why the 'P*** on hospitality' line is funny had my cringing and cowering probably more than any horror movie I've ever seen. The scenes with Margo Prey are also chilling. In many ways, the documentary runs the gamut between funny, scary and tragic better than Troll 2 itself.
